This lecture explores the key themes and areas of inquiry arising from Dr. Pillai’s PhD research. The research has addressed several important questions and, in doing so, has opened avenues for further investigation and provided a foundation for continued scholarly inquiry.

Dr. Unni Krishnan Pillai MDS, MSc, FRACDS, FRACDS (Endo) Immediate past federal president of the ASE
Unni is a part-time PhD student in the School of Mechanical, Mechatronics, and Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Sydney, under the tutelage of Prof Michael Swain and Qing Li. He is currently in the final stages of submitting his PhD thesis on the Biomechanics of clinically induced cracking in human teeth.
Unni is a completed his endodontic training in 2001 and spends most of his time in private practice at Endodontics Only. He is a part-time Clinical Academic at the University of Queensland. He is also the Associate Editor of the Australian Endodontic Journal, an Examiner for RACDS, and the Federal President of the Australian Society of Endodontology (2024-2026).
