 A Clinical Perspective:    Quality of Life IN ENDODONTICS

This presentation addresses a significant gap in current research by highlighting the risk of disassociation between the clinical aspects of endodontics and broader academic work in the field of quality of life. Often, studies in endodontics fail to consider clinical aspects thoroughly, leading to a disconnect between research findings and practical applications in dental practice. The presentation underscores the need for a more holistic approach to endodontic research—one that values and incorporates clinical insights to serve the needs of both patients and practitioners better. This approach aims to enhance attendees’ understanding and engagement with the relevance of quality of life within our clinical discipline.

Professor Giampiero Rossi-Fedele is the Discipline Lead in Endodontics at The University of Adelaide. He obtained his MClinDent in Endodontology from UCL/Eastman Dental Institute, his PhD from PUCRs in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and a PG Cert LTHE from The University of London. He has more than 120 peer-reviewed publications including systematic reviews with immediate clinical translation and laboratory studies assessing biocidal agents in endodontics. He is the lead author of the "Revised guidelines for educational requirements for specialisation in endodontics in Australia and New Zealand” (2020). As a member of the Australian Society of Endodontics Inc. Education Subcommittee, he also co-authored the "Revised guidelines for the endodontic education of dentistry students in Australia and New Zealand” (2021). Aside from his academic role, he also works clinically as a Senior Dental Specialist in Endodontics at the Adelaide Dental Hospital, SA Dental.
